Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek’s love story continues in Bridgerton Season 4, Part 2, which is set to debut soon on Netflix. The latest installment of Shonda Rhimes’ Regency-era series picks up after the shocking Part 1 finale, so here’s everything to know about the release time, episode count and what’s ahead.
Season 4 centers on Luke Thompson’s Benedict Bridgerton, the family’s notorious rake, who reluctantly agrees to seek a wife after pressure from his mother and London society. At a masquerade ball, he encounters a mysterious woman dubbed the “Lady in Silver.” He calls her the “most intriguing person I’ve ever met,” and they share a romantic moment in the garden before she disappears at midnight.
Behind the mask is Sophie Beckett, the illegitimate daughter of an earl who, after her father’s death, is forced into servitude by her cruel stepmother. When Benedict sets out to find the elusive Lady in Silver, with only the white glove she left behind as a clue, their paths cross again under very different circumstances in the countryside.
Benedict rescues Sophie from a group of drunken men during a rainstorm and brings her to his nearby cottage to recover. There, as he nurses his injuries and lowers his guard, he begins to see Sophie for who she truly is. The two share a kiss by the lake, though Benedict remains unaware that the woman he is falling for is the same masked stranger from the ball.
Their connection deepens in London after Sophie is hired as a maid in the Bridgerton household at Benedict’s request. Lingering glances and mounting jealousy make it clear their feelings are mutual. Yet Benedict continues searching for the Lady in Silver, even as he struggles to reconcile his growing love for Sophie amid the rigid social hierarchy that defines the ton.

At the end of Bridgerton Season 4, Part 1, Benedict confesses to Sophie that she has consumed him entirely and that he cannot imagine life without her. He then asks her not to be his wife, but his mistress, which deeply upsets her and prompts her to run off.
“For Sophie, the idea of being a mistress is the worst possible thing she could be asked,” showrunner Jess Brownell told Netflix’s Tudum. As viewers learned in the first few episodes, Sophie’s father was a lord, and she grew up with wealth and received a proper education.
Thompson told the streamer that, by the end of Part 1, Benedict wants to have his cake and eat it too. “He’s trying to section out his life, which is surprising because we don’t think of Benedict as someone who does that. Deep down, I think he is,” the actor said. “He doesn’t like to sort of go anywhere too serious or too committed.”
It’s also revealed at the end of Episode 4 that Sophie’s cruel stepmother and stepsisters are the mysterious family moving in next door to the Bridgerton home in Grosvenor Square. The Featheringtons’ longtime maid, Mrs. Varley, is working with them after resigning when Lady Portia refused to give her a raise.
