Sonu Sood reacts to triple suicide

In a social media post, Sonu shared his thoughts in a strongly worded post that read, “Three young girls lost their lives in Ghaziabad today. Not to violence. Not to poverty. But to the unseen pressure of online gaming and digital addiction. I’ve raised my voice before, and I’ll say it again. Social media and online gaming must be restricted for children under 16, except for education. Childhood needs guidance, not algorithms. Care, not constant screens. This isn’t about blame. It’s about protection, before it’s too late. Let this not become another headline we forget. It’s time to act.”

He also shared his shock over the suicide case by posting a video message with a caption, “Social media can wait. Childhood can’t.”

About the case

According to reports, three sisters, identified as Vishika, 16, Prachi, 14, and Pakhi, 12, were reportedly so upset that their parents cut off their access to an alleged Korean game, that ended their lives by jumping out of their ninth floor home. The girls, according to NDTV, left behind an eight-page suicide note and a pocket diary which police are currently examining. In the note, the girls reportedly wrote, “You tried to distance us from Koreans, but now you know how much we love Koreans.”As per Daily Mail, cops noted a writing on the walls in the girls’ room that read, “I am very, very alone” and “make me a heart of broken”.Investigation revealed that two sisters jumped together, holding each other’s hands, while the third jumped off alone from the window of the prayer room, police said to PTI.According to the grieving father, Chetan Kumar, his three daughters allegedly had an “extreme addiction” to all things Korean, including movies, music, and TV shows. He stated that the obsession began during the COVID-19 pandemic and claimed that it was one of the reasons why they dropped out of school.

Police begin probe

Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna, in a statement to the media, revealed that the police are conducting a detailed probe into the matter and stressed the need for cyber awareness. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Shalimar Garden) Atul Kumar Singh added that the sisters were addicted to a Korean task-based interactive “love game”.“Their parents had restricted their mobile phone usage for the past few days, which left them distressed. This may have triggered the decision (to take the extreme step),” he said.

Police recover pocket diary

According to the latest reports, a nine-page pocket diary recovered from the room of three minors has offered a glimpse into their attachment to the Korean culture and anguish over family and other financial struggles. According to the police, the diary contains repeated references to the girls’ love for Korea, saying, “We love Korean. Love, love, love,” the diary states, with a “true life story” written in it. “The pocket diary has been taken into custody and the matter is being investigated,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Trans-Hindon) Nimish Patil said. “We are examining the circumstances in which the diary was written and all related aspects,” he said.DISCLAIMER:If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts, anxiety, depression, or mental illness, please seek professional help immediately from a doctor, mental health expert, or NGO.
