This Sankranti, five Telugu films have hit the box office. Let’s take a look at their current status as a whole. We will dive deeper into analysis later, as it’s just the start of the holidays in India.
The festive momentum is strong for films in the Telugu states, while the US market typically complements it. Though there are no Sankranti holidays in the US, audiences reflect the mood of Telugu viewers back home.

In the US, two films can already be ruled out: Ravi Teja’s Bhartha Mahasayulaki Wignyapthi and Prabhas’ The Raja Saab. Both have tanked, with Thursday’s numbers indicating zero hope for a recovery. Bhartha Mahasayulaki Wignyapthi collected $12K, while The Raja Saab managed $9K on Thursday.
The other films are performing well. Chiranjeevi and Anil Ravipudi’s Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu leads with $2.18 million, followed by Naveen Polishetty’s Anaganaga Oka Raju at $652K. The underdog, Sharwanand’s Nari Nari Nadumamurari, has crossed $172K so far and is gaining momentum due to strong word of mouth.
The long weekend officially begins in the US with Friday and Monday, Martin Luther King Day, as the major holiday. These films are expected to post strong collections over the next three to four days. How far the trends hold for these three films in the US will ultimately decide their final fate by the end of the week.
