Priyanka Chopra Jonas has disclosed her initial appearance from The Bluff, an R-rated pirate thriller that will be available on Amazon Prime Video on February 25, 2026. In this new look, the actress plays the role of Ercell Bodden, who is popularly called “Bloody Mary,” a former queen of pirates trying to get rid of her violent past but at the same time pulled into warfare again by those who she once fled. The first images released by the production show her ready for the fight, covered in blood and dirt, emphasizing a raw and unglamorous representation of pirate life that is different from the fairy-tale fantasies.
Brutal First Look Showcases High-Intensity Action
The recently released images from The Bluff show Chopra Jonas in intense fight scenes, using guns and taking part in primal struggles, which point to the strong bloody violence as the main reason for the movie’s R classification. One of the exceptional pictures portrays her holding a seashell as if it were a fierce makeshift weapon, indicating the tough authenticity the artists want to show in piracy on the screen, completely opposite to the flashy looks of the past. By means of these pictures, the harsh environment that Ercell has to pass through when her old life overlaps with the current one is highlighted. The plot revolves around A Caribbean woman who gets her secret past revealed when her island is invaded by vicious buccaneers.
Karl Urban as the Vengeful Antagonist
Apart from Chopra Jonas, Karl Urban takes the role of Captain Connor, the main villain whose history with Ercell makes the story even more personal. Described as narcissistic and revengeful, Connor was the one who led Ercell’s crew before she fled with the treasure. His comeback, however, foreshadows a vicious conflict that would tease the audience with fiery battles between the two actors, combining emotional load and the physical rage of their fight. Urban’s background in action parts gives more influence to the character’s unyielding chase after his former lover and opponent.
Story and Themes Beyond Violence
Taking place in the Caribbean during the late 1800s, The Bluff narrates Ercell’s battle to keep her tranquil island existence with her family when her brutal history comes back to haunt her. The story mixes the ideas of fidelity, endurance, and salvation, putting her current position as a mother and shield against her past as that of a merciless pirate. It is claimed that Chopra Jonas studied actual historical female pirates to get ready for the part, aiming to present a rooted and genuine representation of piracy that is not limited to the usual romanticized versions.
Production and Anticipation for Release
The Bluff, a movie directed by Frank E. Flowers and produced by the Russo Brothers’ AGBO Studios in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, is a reunion project of Chopra Jonas with her previous Citadel producers. In addition, the movie has a variety of colorful characters with a supporting cast that includes Temuera Morrison, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Safia Oakley-Green, Zach Morris, and Vedanten Naidoo. The Bluff, through its raw vibe, thrilling action, and powerful acting, is set to take the pirate genre by storm at its release on Prime Video.
