Prabhas’ horror fantasy The Raja Saab premiered on the OTT platform Jio Hotstar yesterday in multiple languages. Directed by Maruthi, the big budget film has been met with severe backlash from OTT audiences.
Viewers, including hardcore Prabhas fans, have openly called out the makers for glaring logic gaps, poor VFX, and weak execution. Screenshots and clips highlighting these flaws are flooding social media. While many tuned in hoping for a better experience than the theatrical run, the disappointment only got worse.

As expected, OTT audiences have been far more ruthless than theatrical viewers. With the ability to pause, rewind, and freeze frames, every single shot of The Raja Saab is being dissected. Poor VFX, horrendous face swapping, weak direction, cringe comedy, and lifeless performances have all come under fire. The trolling is relentless.
One of the most damaging revelations is the excessive use of body doubles. In several scenes, Prabhas is visibly absent, not just in action sequences, but even in basic moments like walking, sitting, or talking. Fans noticed heavy face swapping throughout. One viral comment read, “When dupe screen time is more than hero screen time, the result is The Raja Saab.” In one scene, viewers even spotted one hand belonging to Prabhas and the other clearly not.
The outdated and cringe comedy involving Prabhas Srinu and Sapthagiri has also been widely slammed. OTT viewers have zero patience for such humor, and the backlash reflects that.
Many Prabhas fans were seen tagging director Maruthi on X, angrily asking, “What did our Prabhas do to you to deserve such a disastrous output?” Some even admitted, “The trolling is so genuine this time that we cannot even defend our star.”
One fan wrote, “We defended a blasphemy like Adipurush, but we cannot defend this utter trash called The Raja Saab.”
Another said, “For other heroes, haters make morph edits. For Prabhas, his own directors do it in the films to troll and mock him.”
Prabhas wasn’t spared either. One user pointed out, “Fans keep blaming the director, VFX, and music, but the real issue is Prabhas. Even in scenes with acting scope, like the hospital sequence, he looked lazy, with no screen presence and no impact. His forced drunkard acting pushed the team to rely on dupes and face swaps.”
Another brutally honest review read, “One hour into The Raja Saab. Honestly, this film does not deserve the hate it is getting. It deserves much more. Who introduces a superstar with a random scene that abruptly cuts to a song?”
Several viewers admitted they still could not understand the film even after rewatching it. Many questioned how such shots were approved and made it to the final cut.
Thaman’s excessively loud background score has also been heavily slammed.
Along with Maruthi, Prabhas is equally responsible. He approved an absurd storyline, failed to course correct, demanded three heroines, and was fine with excessive use of body doubles. These choices ultimately damaged the viewing experience.
If the theatrical response to The Raja Saab was bad, the OTT response has been outright brutal. Maruthi turned Prabhas into troll material, and Prabhas allowed it to happen.
Prabhas already saw how badly Adipurush backfired due to poor VFX and overall quality. That film was supposed to be a lesson. But what Prabhas and his team actually learned from that experience? ZERO.
Ever since Adipurush, every VFX heavy film starring Prabhas has been instantly compared to it and brutally trolled. Sadly, The Raja Saab turned out to be Adipurush ka baap.
A star’s biggest enemy is not making mistakes. It is repetition.
This is a film that has arguably done more damage to Prabhas’ credibility than Adipurush and turned him into a troll material and that too on a pan India level. Now, all eyes are on Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who may need to pull off a miracle with Prabhas in ‘Spirit’ to undo the damage of this cinematic nightmare called The Raja Saab.
