The Oscar-nominated animated hit ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ has been crowned the most-streamed movie of 2025!As per the latest reports, the film that is up for two Oscars, has hit a new record, by clocking a staggering 20.5 billion minutes of viewing in the United States.
‘KPop Demon Hunters’ becomes most streamed film
According to a report by Nielsen data, the Netflix title with a runtime of 99 minutes has clocked in an estimated 207 million of full movie views. However, at the same time, Netflix reports that the film, on the whole, scored a total viewership of 325.1 million views. This leaves behind the film ‘Red Notice’ that previously held the record with 230.9 million views.Backed by Sony Pictures Animation, ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ topped the year-end charts despite making its digital debut in June 2025. The film only had a theatrical release after its surge in popularity on the streaming platform.Nielsen data shows that nearly half of the film’s audience, an estimated 48 per cent viewership came from children aged between 2 and 11. The animated feature, follows a K-pop girl-group who secretly battle demons and protect their fans with their songs and music.
‘KPop Demon Hunters’ scoops up top awards
The movie gained popularity and won a Golden Globe for Best Animated Film, it is also expected to strike gold at the upcoming Oscars, where it will battle 4 other films in the same category. Meanwhile, th film’s hit track, ‘Golden’, that has been topping the Billboard Hot 100 for eight total weeks, received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song. The track, performed by Huntr/x (EJAE, Audrey Nuna, Rei Ami), is also set to make history at the Grammy Awards. The song has received 4 major nominations, including Song of the Year. It is also nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Song Written for Visual Media, and Best Remixed Recording.
Most viewed films of 2025
Nielsen published the latest streaming figures as part of its second annual ARTEY Awards, which honour the most-watched titles across platforms. The other films to feature on the list include ‘Moana 2’ with 15 billion minutes viewed, Adam Sandler’s ‘Happy Gilmore 2’, which nabbed 7.1 billion minutes and ‘Wicked’, which scored 6.8 billion viewing minutes across two platforms.
