They first met on the sets of the Malayalam film Aparan, where they played siblings in their very first film together.
During the shoot of Witness, Jayaram confessed his feelings, and Parvathy reciprocated. But the couple decided to keep their relationship strictly private. On set, they barely spoke to each other. Their romance survived through handwritten letters and audio cassettes, away from curious eyes. This secret love story lasted nearly five years. Though they acted together in 12 films and became a hit on-screen pair, audiences assumed it was just good chemistry—except actor Srinivasan, who sensed something more. When they finally decided to marry, Jayaram and Parvathy informed their families. Initially hesitant—since Parvathy was a top heroine—her family eventually agreed, impressed by Jayaram’s rising popularity and character. After exchanging rings in front of the photograph of late filmmaker Padmarajan, who introduced them to cinema, the couple tied the knot on September 7, 1992, at Guruvayur Temple. After marriage, Parvathy chose to step away from films, prioritising family over stardom. In an industry where relationships are often short-lived, Jayaram and Parvathy’s bond has stood strong for over three decades. Jayaram is known to call his wife multiple times a day while shooting away from home. The couple has two children—Kalidas Jayaram, now a promising actor in South Indian cinema, and daughter Malavika, who recently got married. From playing siblings on screen to becoming lifelong partners, their love story truly feels like a real-life fairytale.

Many star couples first met on film sets, where friendship quietly turned into love—and finally marriage. One such real-life love story, straight out of a movie script, belongs to actor Jayaram (61) and actress Parvathy (55).
