Anurag Sinha REACTS to ‘Taskaree Season 2’ buzz: ‘I don’t have any entitlement to tell you this’ |

Anurag Sinha is currently enjoying a strong wave of appreciation for his performance in the web series ‘Taskaree: A Smuggler’s Web.’ The actor plays Prakash Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Customs. In a recent interview, Anurag Sinha opened up about the role.

Exploring a role beyond the surface

In the series headed by Emraan Hashmi, Anurag plays a customs officer posted at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Mumbai International Airport. His job is to crack down on smuggling and corruption. While the role may seem straightforward on paper, Anurag says it offered much more creatively.

He shared in an interview with Mid-Day, “So there are different shades I have played. These are some shades that I have not attempted before. But the arc and the journey of the character are such that they invite great intrigue for me as an actor to explore my possibilities and explore new dimensions that I have not done before. So it was a great opportunity.”The layered writing allowed him to step out of his comfort zone and approach the character with restraint rather than loud heroics.

A shift from familiar heroic spaces

Anurag also reflected on how different this role felt compared to his earlier work. He admitted that he has often imagined himself in lead or heroic parts. But ‘Taskaree’ changed that perspective. He said, “I have seen myself in lead roles. I have seen myself doing some good heroic stuff. But this was something different. Different in terms of the journey of the character and the impact that it has in the entire series.”That difference, according to him, made the role more fulfilling. The character’s influence on the larger narrative mattered more than screen dominance.

Season 2 curiosity and ensemble strength

The show has sparked conversations about a possible second season. Anurag believes viewers will naturally want more. But when asked directly, he stayed cautious. He clarified, “That’s a very pre-emptive answer, but I don’t have any entitlement to tell you this. I don’t want to comment on it because it’s not my decision, and I am not aware of it as of now.”Alongside Emraan Hashmi, the series features a strong ensemble including Sharad Kelkar, Nandish Sandhu, Amruta Khanvilkar, Zoya Afroz, and Freddy Daruwala.
