After what seemed like the perfect ending to ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 3, the makers on Wednesday, announced that the Apple TV+ hit will return this summer for Season 4. The first look photos from the new season were posted online, teasing fans with glimpses of their favourites making their return and some new faces joining the series. Jason Sudeikis returns as Ted Lasso, in the Emmy-winning comedy and as per the first glimpse, he will be faced with the fresh challenge of coaching a second-division women’s football team. The first look images tease Ted returning with Brendan Hunt’s Coach Beard and a new assistant coach, played by ‘Sex Education’ actor Tanya Reynolds. Another still features Ted and Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) standing in front of the Richmond jet, possibly before flying to Kansas for the new coaching role.Season 4 is expected to begin in Kansas, thus picking up after the events of Season 3.
‘Ted Lasso’ fans react to Season 4 buzz
While the announcement has sparked excitement among fans, it has also fired up harsh criticism from others who questioned whether the show needed a fourth season after a ‘perfect’ ending in Season 3. “Why the hell is Apple TV making a 4th season of Ted Lasso? The show wrapped up perfectly in season 3—with an emotional finale where every character found their path. Now Ted’s back coaching a women’s team in Richmond? Pure cash grab—greed trumping creativity once again,” read an angry tweet. Another said, “I’m really excited for Ted lasso season 4 but I feel like a better ending would of been for his family to move in with him in London then him to move back to the US.” Still another added, “Like any TV show that finished and came back I have serious doubts about Season 4 of Ted Lasso, hope it’s good, but it just feels like a cash grab by Apple TV.”“Look man I liked Ted Lasso for what it was but I have absolutely zero interest in a season 4,” read a comment while another fan weighed in saying, “truly don’t care about a ted lasso season 4 unless it gives me roykeeley endgame.”Others, however, admitted to warming to the idea of another season for the comedy. “As a Ted Lasso superfan who has watched the show countless times, I was staunchly against a season 4 when it was announced. I would’ve preferred a spin-off. However, at this point in time, I think the world could use some more Ted Lasso. I have decided this is good news,” read a tweet.
Jason Sudeikis confirms Ted Lasso Season 4′
Jason Sudeikis previously confirmed Season 4 in the works back in March 2025, while on a podcast with Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce. When asked if a new season was in the works, Seudeikis said, “That’s what we’re writing.. we’re writing Season 4 now. That’s the official word. Ted’s coaching a women’s team, so there…”When Taylor Swift’s fiance, Travis probed further details, Jason quipped, “That’s too many questions.”Season 4 reunites much of the original ensemble cast, including Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift, all of whom are set to reprise their roles. New additions to the series include Jude Mack, Faye Marsey, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey and Abbie Hern.
