Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyaar Early Reviews: Here’s What Viewers Say

Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyaar was initially planned for a December 2025 release but ran into delays. With Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan getting postponed, the Pongal release window opened up, giving Vaa Vaathiyaar the opportunity to arrive in theatres today, January 14, 2026.

The film is directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, best known for Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum, and belongs to the action-comedy genre. Strong promotional activities helped the film generate decent buzz, and with very few options available for audiences this Pongal, many moviegoers have turned towards this release.

Early audience feedback has been mixed but reasonably positive. Karthi’s performance, along with the comedy and brisk pacing in the first half, has emerged as the film’s main strengths. However, viewers have pointed out that the second half slows down and becomes uneven in parts, which affects the overall impact, especially for those who caught the early morning shows. At present, the film has opened to mixed talk, and it remains to be seen how the word of mouth shapes up in the coming days.

Krithi Shetty plays the female lead opposite Karthi, while the supporting cast includes Sathyaraj, Rajkiran, Anandaraj, Shilpa Manjunath, Karunakaran, G. M. Sundar, Ramesh Thilak, and P. L. Thenappan. The film is produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja under the Studio Green banner, with Santhosh Narayanan composing the music. The Telugu dubbed version, titled Annagaru Vostaru, is yet to lock its release date.
