National Award-winning director Arunima Sharma, who recently directed an OTT web series, ‘Four More Shots Please!’ Season 4, is all set to direct her upcoming documentary on the life of Naseeruddin Shah, and she is really excited for her upcoming project on the legendary actor titled ‘Backstage’.Commenting on the new perspective the documentary has given on her craft and longevity, Arunima shares in an interview with ETimes, “I’ve known Naseer for 20 years now. A lot of what I understand about longevity comes from him through the life he lives and some of the conversations we have had. The dedication to the craft he has is unparalleled. At 75, he does an entire run-through of a very intense play, ‘The Father,’ which is mentally and physically very demanding for the protagonist, starting at 2 pm, followed by directorial and lighting discussions and so on, finally performing it from 7:30 pm to almost 10 pm. He’s on stage for almost every minute of those 2 hours, giving his all. That kind of stamina can only come from passion. His creative integrity shows in everything, from him being self-critical to admitting a mistake he made in creatively interpreting something to his constantly trying to learn and discover new things, even today. A childlike curiosity like he has is what longevity truly entails.”Arunima further revealed why she came on board for the fourth season of ‘Four More Shots Please!’: she stated, “I wanted to see how I can bring my individual style and directorial perspective to an established, well-loved series. It was an interesting challenge.”Speaking about the response to the show, she adds, “The response to the season has been fabulous! People are binge-watching it. The series has its loyal audience, which was eagerly waiting for the next season, and has also found a new audience this season. They seem to be enjoying the freshness and breeziness of it, along with the new characters and plots added this season. The touch of gravitas is also something that people have told me they are connecting with,” she added.
