‘Jab Khuli Kitaab’ FIRST LOOK: Pankaj Kapur and Dimple Kapadia shine in touching late-life romance


The first look of OTT original ‘Jab Khuli Kitaab’ is out, starring Pankaj Kapur and Dimple Kapadia. Directed by Saurabh Shukla from his play, it explores a long-married couple’s secrets shaking their family. The first glimpse of the upcoming OTT original ‘Jab Khuli Kitaab’ has dropped, starring Bollywood stalwarts Pankaj Kapur and Dimple Kapadia. The Shoestrap Films production, penned and helmed by Saurabh Shukla, skips theaters for a direct digital debut on March 6, 2026.

Adapted from Saurabh Shukla’s play by the same title, ‘Jab Khuli Kitaab’ delivers a touching, funny, and deeply felt story of love in one’s later years. The plot tracks Gopal and Anusuya, whose marriage of many decades hits a snag from a surprising discovery. With old secrets bubbling up, their family gets caught in a whirlwind of feelings, poignant at times, humorous at others. Deep down, it probes ideas of love, togetherness, forgiveness, and reconnecting after a life shared.

Sharing his thoughts, as reported in ANI, Saurabh Shukla said the story centres on “raw, unfiltered honesty” within long-standing relationships. He described it as an exploration of unspoken emotions, unresolved conflicts and unexpected tenderness, while also finding humour in the messiness of real life. According to him, the film captures how love, in all its flawed and redemptive forms, can endure even the toughest storms.
